Welcome reception at City Hall

Courtesy of the Mayor of Stockholm, a welcome reception will be held at Stockholm City Hall on Sunday, 26 July. This beautiful brick edifice on lake Mälaren, reminiscent of a medieval palace, is one of the Swedish capital’s most emblematic buildings. Among many other festive events, it hosts the impressive Nobel Prize Banquet every December.

Tickets are required for admission to both the welcome reception at City hall (“Stadshuset”) Sunday July 26 and to the Social (The Vasa Museum) Tuesday July 28.Tickets are handed to you when you register. This means that you need to register to get admission to welcome reception and the social.

There has been an larger than expected interest in participating at the Welcome reception. Please inform secretariat if you do not intend to participate, so that your ticket can be used by someone else.  We would preferrably see that tickets are allocated to registered participants in first hand, and to guests and spouces etc. due to availability.

When: Sunday July 26, at  18:00 (sharp) – 20:00
Where: City Hall (”Stockholms stadshus”), Address: Ragnar Östbergs Plan 1, Stockholm

Getting there: Buses/coaches will depart from outside conference venue at 17:30.
You can also walk to the city hall. Walking distance is about 1 400 meters from conference center, or a no more than 20 minutes walk. Suggested walking route marked in blue on this Google map.

Getting back: Buses will continously take you back to conference venue.
You can also walk back from the city hall. Walking distance is about 1 400 meters, or a no more than 20 minutes walk. Several hotels are even closer.

The social at the Vasa museeum

On Tuesday, 28 July, a banquet will take place at the Vasa museum, next to the unique regal warship Vasa. In 1961, the ship was salvaged from the bottom of the sea just outside the port of Stockholm, where it sunk on its disastrous maiden journey 333 years earlier. Today it is the only remaining, intact 17th century ship in the world, displayed in this specially built museum.

Tickets are required for admission to both the welcome reception at City hall (“Stadshuset”) Sunday July 26 and to the Social (The Vasa Museum) Tuesday July 28.Tickets are handed to you when you register. This means that you need to register to get admission to welcome reception and the social.

When: Tuesday July 28 juli.  From 7 PM/ 19:00.
Where: The Vasa museeum, Address: Galärvarvsvägen 14, Stockholm

Getting there: Buses/coaches will depart from the Hotel Clarion Sign at time printed on your ticket.
Buses/coaches will take you on a short ride to a waterfront place called Slussen. At Slussen you embarque three boats that will take you to the Vasa museeum.

Getting back: Buses will continously take you back to conference venue.

There is a US$ 35 admission fee for the social.
